Urban Distortion: 4 International & Indian DJs. Amit Heri grew up in Bangalore, India, listening to the Blues, Indian & Western classical, Rock & Pop - B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Ravi Shankar, Allah Rakha, Zakir Hussain, L. Shankar, R.A. Ramamani, U. Srinivas, Bach, Villa Lobos, The Police and many others. His introduction to Jazz, through the music of John Mclaughlin, George Benson, Miles Davis & John Coltrane, led him to study Jazz and Composition on a scholarship at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Amit's objective is to share a personal journey through music that highlights the commonality between cultures and people. One of a few Indian musicians to perform at top international music festivals (Berlin Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Paris Jazz Festival, Rome World Music Festival, Womad Festival, World Social Forum and many more), Amit Heri has performed with many internationally known artists including Charlie Mariano, Zakir Hussain, Mandolin U. Srinivas, Ustad Sultan Khan, Shankar Mahadevan, Trilok Gurtu, Robert Miles, Salif Keita & Angelique KiDJo.
