Northfield Middle School Theater Students will present "Up the Down Staircase" directed by Rachel Haider. The play follows a new teacher who finds herself at a high school with unusual people and rules.

Starting her career in an over-crowded, understaffed inner-city classroom, a novice teacher fights for the education of her indifferent students. In the process she learns more about life than she could ever imagine. Up the Down Staircase blends comedy and drama, and helps remind us that even when school systems are troubled, there is always an underlying desire to teach and to learn.
