Please join us at the Library on Monday, December 6, at 5:30 PM for the unveiling of the Community Shard Project mosaic panels in the children’s area. The Library is delighted to add this community art project which was created during Royal Oak’s 2010 Clay, Glass, and Metal Festival. Clay and glass shards were donated by participating artists and assembled by festival attendees during the event in June. mosiac_workingLocal ceramic artists, Laurie Eisenhardt and Marcia Hovland, designed and coordinated the assembly and creation of the mosaic panels. The Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Royal Oak Public Library provided funding for the framing and mounting of the two mosaic panels. The panels, which are a combined length of 10 feet, will be uncovered at the 5:30 PM ceremony. Light refreshments and an opportunity for children and their families to make mini-mosaics will follow. In addition, attendees are invited to offer suggestions to help name the piece, rounding out the community nature of the project. Come and be amongst the first to view these beautiful and fascinating pieces of art created by our community to be enjoyed by our community!
No registration necessary.
