SynthCleveland will present the 1927 Fritz Lang classic silent film "Metropolis," featuring a new live soundtrack on Wednesday, December 8 at 8pm, at Rain Nightclub, 4142 Lorain Avenue in Cleveland.

This is the second in a series of "UnSilent" films -- silent movies with an improvised live score -- performed by SynthCleveland members the scinema, Dust_Head, Luigi-Bob Drake, Steven K. Smith and tofu. They will be joined on this occasion by guest vocalist Dawn Mitchell.

Spinning the ultra "moderne" tracks before and after the film will be special guest DJ Android from Missile Command.

Metropolis is _the_ über science fiction film, influencing so many films that one almost forgets that this was the movie that introduced electrical arcs, bubbling beakers, glowing rings of light and other mad scientist props (Bride Of Frankenstein); black gloved hand (Dr. Strangelove); the proto "lone hero" who fights the future (X-Files); and creating robots to look like humans (Blade Runner).

Roger Ebert says: "Lang's film is the summit of German Expressionism, the combination of stylized sets, dramatic camera angles, bold shadows and frankly artificial theatrics."

SynthCleveland is a resource group for area electronic musicians holding meetings and presenting workshops related to electronic music. The group has grown to over 170 members, released two compilation CD's "Foundation: Cleveland Electronic 2002", and "Foundation II: Cleveland Elctronic 2003".

Rain Nightclub is located at 4142 Lorain Avenue (216-651-4100).
