To celebrate the rich heritage and culture of Mexico, La Condesa will produce the 4th Annual Cinco de Mayo Downtown Block Party on Saturday, May 5th, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The fiesta will cover the entire block of West 2nd Street between Guadalupe and San Antonio, and feature an array of food and beverages provided by La Condesa and Malaga.

The free event is open to all ages and is expected to draw a crowd of more than 7,000 people. Bombasta, La Guerrilla, Mariachi Tamazula, Charanga Cakewalk, Este Vato, Ocote Soul Sounds (DJ set) and Deejay Honeycomb will entertain block party attendees throughout the day.

“Last year’s festival drew nearly 5,000 people from all over Austin,” says La Condesa owner Jesse Herman. “This year is going to be bigger and better since it falls on a Saturday. We expect there to be more people coming from outside of Austin which will be fantastic.”

La Condesa will serve their popular Mexican street food including grilled Mexican street corn, grilled chorizo sandwiches and a selection of tacos. Adults can cool off with a beverage from event sponsors Cazadores Tequila, Dos XX and Tecate.

There will also be an after party open to the public at Malverde featuring additional DJ sets by DJ Chicken George & Ocote Soul Sounds from 10pm - 2am.

This neighborhood party is ideal for the whole family, with ample activities to enjoy. Area shops will also participate in the festivities featuring special gifts, novelties, and sweets to go along with the fun. Parking will be available at all downtown garages, and there will be a valet service located on 3rd Street.
