Uni Music League lets the public choose the stars of tomorrow and the buffet of main prizes awaiting for the lucky winning band, act or le artiste is an E.P recording deal with the legendary Metropolis studio, a full PR campaign with the established Playground PR, a support slot at one of London’s finest venues and a professional photography shoot… And now that the finals are drawing near, they are certainly shaping up to be quite the event...
► T*U*A - stands for “The Unknown Artiste” and is certainly not just about the songs. It is a full-on creative bunch of hip-hop guys who together make music, write lyrics, shoot and direct videos, make websites, design clothes and are part of the London street art movement… Their aim is to change, challenge and inspire people.
► THE SHAMA RAHMAN BAND - Under the tutelage lineage of Pt Ravi Shankar, she sings over her sitar at times passionately soaring and powerful, at others, mischievously percussive and quietly thoughtful but always beautiful as she tells it like it is with observations on life, love and time hidden in fables, illuminated in parables and good old fashioned clap-alongs.
► JAMES AND THE RABBIT HOLE - Awesome surfy rocky bluesy band. Get taken away by an accomplished old-school sound, with lyrics akin to country story-telling. Drawing on influences from Marvin Gaye, The Police through to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers - this band is one not to be missed!
