A new conference on the complex and often-misunderstood phenomenon of 2012 will take place in Boston on June 6, 2009. “Understanding the 2012 Phenomenon” -- the first-of-its-kind event in Boston and the New England area – will take place at the Courtyard Boston/Downtown Tremont hotel in the city’s theater district.
Four well-respected authors and keynote speakers will headline the daylong event: Daniel Pinchbeck, John Major Jenkins, Christine Page and James O’Dea, according to event sponsor, The Emergence Project.
Speakers will cover the genesis of the 2012 phenomenon and its importance; myths and misconceptions surrounding the date itself and so-called “end times”; why the real meaning of 2012 has little to do with popular doomsday scenarios; the role of both mainstream religious and ancient spiritual traditions in the unfolding of 2012; and explorations concerning the types of sustainable alternative futures that “The Shift”, as it is sometimes referred to, will engender.
In addition to keynote presentations, “Understanding the 2012 Phenomenon” will include a series of events including workshops and ceremonies inviting the participant to experience aspects of the shift from a multilevel perspective. The workshops will offer attendees practical tools and resources for formulating a personal response to cultural transformation. The cost of attendance is $195 and includes all events throughout the day including book signings with the keynote speakers, breakfast, lunch, and an evening party.
Jenkins is an independent researcher who has devoted himself to reconstructing ancient Mayan cosmology and philosophy. Page is known as a mystical physician, and has over 30 years of experience in the caring professions as doctor and homeopath. Pinchbeck is editorial director of Reality Sandwich. O'Dea is a Fellow of the Institute of Noetic Sciences and was, until recently, its President.
The Emergence Project Inc. is a non-profit organization chartered with providing educational resources and tools for cultural transformation. Its current focus is on offering conferences and workshops focusing on 2012 emergence. Initial outreach is taking place via a series of New England-based events intended to provide a deeper understanding of the complex issues surrounding the 2012 phenomenon.
