Understanding Healthy Foods and Green Gardening in Schools April 9, 2013

What is truly at stake in the movement to get children outdoors and into the garden? Cindy Brown, representative of the White House’s Vegetable Garden/Let’s Move program, moderates this community forum to explore such issues as students’ engagement with what they eat and their understanding of the origins of their food, equal access to healthy food, and economic injustice. Panelists include Anita Adalja, Common Good City Farm; Sarah Bernardi, programs director, DC Greens; Sam Ullery, school garden specialist at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education; and Anna Benfield,education manager, Washington Youth Garden.
