UNDERRATED MAGAZINE, a local independent music magazine, will host a lineup of local New York City bands at Tribeca Rock Club. The concert will honor its one-year anniversary issue and will give New York City a taste of what the magazine preaches ? quality music from deserving artists. TAMMANY HALL NYC, EL JEZEL, A BRIEF SMILE, and NYCSMOKE ? all local unsigned New York bands will perform.
UNDERRATED MAGAZINE began in 2003 with the simple solitary ideal that there is good music out there that is going unheard. The project of a then 19-year-old aspiring journalist and music passionate began with just a computer and the teeming streets of Manhattan. One year later, the magazine has received wild acclaim, reaching across the U.S. and even overseas. It now distributes to subscribers online, in print in record stores throughout Manhattan, and published on the magazine?s website. Subscribers include industry folk, musicians both small and large, and the most important people that are the glue to any creative success: the fans.
UNDERRATED MAGAZINE features all genres of music spanning from local talents such as Port, Clarias, Theo Eastwind, and Lower Lot to breakthrough artists Nellie McKay, The Postal Service, Guster, Hot Rod Circuit, and Motion City Soundtrack. It aims to bridge the gap between musician and fan, and to take an open discussion of contemporary music and the industry to the streets.
