Opening Weekend – Under the Sea 3D

Tidal Talk 1:30 p.m.
After seeing what’s Under The Sea, the new IMAX® film, swing by the touch tank for a Tidal Talk. Kids of all ages will get to learn about and even touch some amazing sea creatures. Discover the marine animals that call South Florida home!

Shark Feeding Frenzy 2:30 p.m.
Did you know that the term “feeding frenzy” was first used in a 1958 book titled "Shark Attack" by V.M. Coppleson? Get a chance to see a live “feeding frenzy” as we feed the Museum’s sharks. Bring your shark questions too… we would love to answer them!

Sea Turtle Summers 3:30 p.m.
Every year, after spring turns to summer, something very interesting happens…thousands of female Loggerhead sea turtles emerge from the sea along Florida beaches to lay their nests. Join our sea turtle experts as they take you through this amazing process. Learn about the obstacles that are facing these endangered animals and how you can help protect sea turtles. You will even get a chance to meet a very special Loggerhead sea turtle that calls the Museum home!

Humans Underwater? 4:30 p.m.
Even though fish make it look easy, it takes a lot of equipment to allow humans to explore our underwater worlds. From masks and fins, to SCUBA tanks and snorkels, learn about some of the equipment divers use to be able to survive and explore the ocean’s depths.

Under the Sea Activity Table 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Take something home with you to remember your day. Stop by our Under the Sea Craft Table and “sea” what you can make and take home with you.

Medicines from the Sea: Using Killer Snails to Kill Pain presentation

Join guest speaker Dr. Mari, Professor, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, Florida Atlantic University as he discusses the discovery of components of venom from deadly marine snails that are being developed into therapeutics for the treatment of chronic pain and other conditions such as stroke and multiple sclerosis.
