UNC’s premiere 65-voice mixed choir brings their exciting repertoire to the Augustana concert series at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 22 at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 East Alameda Ave., Denver. The University of Northern Colorado's premier choral ensemble, the Concert Choir, will present a performance of choral works balanced between the glorious sacred music traditions and the 'profane' --- that which is secular rather than religious. The second half will include shorter works devoted to themes of love, country, life, and the human emotion.

The University of Northern Colorado Concert Choir performs a wide range of choral literature, from the classics to contemporary composers. Widely recognized for its excellence as a performing ensemble, the Concert Choir is in demand for guest appearances throughout the region. Selections for this concert will include a wide variety of choral pieces representing several styles of excellent choral repertoire.

Dr. Galen Darrough is the Director of Choral Activities at the University of Northern Colorado, and has directed, adjudicated, and served as clinician to choirs in twenty states, Latin America, and Canada. At the University of Northern Colorado, he is the conductor of the 68-voice select Concert Choir, the 65-voice Men's Glee Club, and directs graduate choral studies. He has served in numerous capacities in the American Choral Director’s Association, and is now Past-president of the Southwestern division of ACDA. In the Fall of 1999 he was designated the Scholar of the Year for the College of Performing and Visual Arts at UNC, one of eight faculty members to be awarded throughout the university, and in the Spring of 2011 he will be on his second sabbatic leave, devoted to the study of Latin American choral repertoire.
