This enlightening and educational evening features a 1975 photograph by Cindy Sherman (born 1954). Elise Smith, Ph.D., Millsaps College art history professor, discusses the image as it relates to the ambiguity of identity and the complexity of post-modern self-portraiture. Patsy Daniels, Ph.D., Jackson State University English professor, reads excerpts of The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas, 1933 by Gertrude Stein. Duncan Dance performs an original modern dance piece by Marlena Duncan. Sponsored by The Mississippi Humanities Council.
