On September 15th, The Living Theatre (the country’s foremost politically-committed theatre) will present a reading of plays b G.L. Horton, featuring her script Unbinding Our Lives. This script, which is carefully researched, documents the experiences of Chinese women who immigrated to the US between 1849 through 1940. While it reveals appalling practices, it is also documents hope and the American experience.
The Living Theatre will also be reading two other short plays by Horton:
Best Practice, in which a hospitalized woman strive to take control of her death
and
Under Cover, in which a well-intentioned woman responds to the liberal call to wear the veil in solidarity with innocent Islamic women. This play was written for puppets!
