Leon Major, director of opera
A Persian ruler tries to force the hand of Love itself in this serio-comic opera in three acts. Not content with his impending marriage to the beautiful Amastre, Xerxes pursues his brother’s beloved Romilda also. Lust, treachery and foul play abound in this most extravagant of Baroque operas. Performed in Italian with English supertitles.
Performed in repertory with Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.
