"The House of Tomorrow" (from The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran)
Children and childhood have inspired composers and performers throughout the ages. Composer John Greer's song cycle "The House of Tomorrow" is the creative stimulus for four sets of songs by various composers highlighting the joys and trials of childhood, as well as the voices of the young and those that love and nurture them. Selections from Brahms to Britten, Schubert to Sondheim include both the well-known and undeservedly rare, featuring songs by Mussorgsky, Poulenc and Ives.
