Maureen Andary from The Sweater Set teaches newcomers of all ages the basics of ukulele. No experience or training is required.
In 2008, cabaret artist Maureen Andary was awarded a Young Emerging Artist grant by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities to produce her debut album, Nostalgia, and was selected as a finalist in the 2008 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest, one of the premier showcases of emerging musical talent in North America. Maureen sings classic jazz and blues as well as original songs that are inspired by the chord changes of 1930s pop music. A native Washingtonian, she discovered her affinity for classic jazz and blues while a student at New York University. She has been nominated for two WAMMIES by the Washington Area Music Association this year and performs throughout the DC area including appearances at Blues Alley, the National Zoo and the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
