The Department of Music, The Centre for Russian Music and The Serge Prokofiev Archive at Goldsmiths, University of London present the UK premiere of Prokofiev's Cantata: Songs of our days. The Cantata was written in 1937 at the very height of Stalin's terror. Later, during the so called ‘Khrushchev thaw’ all references to Stalin were removed from the text. The Cantata will be performed at Goldsmiths with its original text.

The Cantata will be conducted by Alexander Ivashkin, Professor of Music and Director of the Centre for Russian Music at Goldsmiths. It will be performed by Goldsmiths Sinfonia and Chorus with solo performances by Jennifer Hunt (mezzo-soprano) and Hamish Gallie (baritone).

There will be a pre-concert talk by Noelle Mann, Curator of the Serge Prokofiev Archive at Goldsmiths.
