Claire Trevor School of the Arts and the Department of Music presents the UCI Choir and Men In Blaque, directed by Joseph Huszti, professor of music and Director of the Choral Program at UCI. The concert features Men in Blaque, the UCI Chamber Singers, and the UCI Woman’s Chamber Choir.
Men in Blaque, an 18-voice male vocal ensemble, performs a wide variety of music ranging from popular Broadway musicals to awe-inspiring Gregorian chant. The men have been invited to International Festivals in Korea, Mexico, and Spain. They participated in the International Choral Olympics in Xiamen, China in 2006, winning two silver medals and a gold certificate.
The Chamber Singers are an auditioned mixed ensemble and have represented the United States at international festivals in Korea, Spain and Mexico. The Woman’s Chamber Choir won first prize in Wales in July 2008.
The concert features a selection that includes the Bach Motet #6, “Lobet den Herrn” and the three choir selection by Andrea Gabrielli “Magnificat.” Men in Blaque will perform a wide variety of music including several gospel and spiritual selections.
