A distinguished panel will consider the implications of the recent governmental rulings, especially those regarding financial reporting (usually referred to as "Sarbanes Oxley") and the expensing of stock options, on the way the venture capital community and Silicon Valley have done business for the last twenty years. How is this affecting venture investing strategies? How is it affecting entrepreneurs, and what do they need to know? This will be where you can finally understand the problem and learn how investors and start-up companies are adapting.
For fifteen years the Berkeley Entrepreneurs Forum has provided an intimate and informative setting for students and the public to meet with and hear from seasoned professional entrepreneurs. Each month, a specific topic in entrepreneurship and innovation is presented and discussed by the leading Bay Area professionals in that field. The purpose of the forum is to foster the growth and success of entrepreneurial ventures through the exchange of information and the development of productive relationships among entrepreneurs and those who finance and advise them. It allows professionals to meet each other and to meet the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders.
The Forum meets monthly during the academic year: September to November, and January to April. All meetings are:
Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Arthur Andersen Auditorium
Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley
All programs begin with a networking hour from 6:30 to 7:30 with complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres. A presentation by a variety of speakers of interest to the Bay Area entrepreneurial community follows in the Andersen Auditorium at 7:30 PM. If you are unfamiliar with the UC Berkeley campus locate the Haas School on the east (uphill) side of campus on a campus map.
