This year Captain George N. Thompson and the U.S. Navy Band welcome three amazing guest musicians. Professor Claude Delangle (Paris Conservatory) is known as one of the greatest contemporary saxophonists and master of the French saxophone. Clifford Leaman (University of South Carolina), in great demand as a soloist and clinician, has commissioned and given the world premiere performance of numerous pieces for the saxophone. International recording artist Eddie Daniels is a top-notch improviser, known for his virtuosity on both saxophone and clarinet. Delangle and Leaman will perform at 8 p.m. Friday night with the Concert Band. Daniels takes the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday night with the “Commodores” jazz ensemble.

Joining the guest artists in performance is Navy Band’s own saxophonist Senior Chief Musician Timothy E. Roberts. Senior Chief Roberts is regularly featured as a soloist throughout the Washington, D.C. area, on national concert tours, and around the world.

In addition to all of the performances and educational offerings, the Symposium presents vendors for instrument companies, sheet music and accessories.
