Tough economic times may provide an opportunity for engaged couples to focus less on the material aspects of the wedding and more on the spiritual journey of getting married. With a grant from the United Jewish Endowment Fund, the Washington DCJCC and the JCC of Northern Virginia present Tying the Knot: Workshop for Couples. The workshops are professionally facilitated and – unlike most aspects of the wedding – reasonably priced!
“We wanted to provide a space for couples to explore a variety of issues, including marital roles and expectations; religion and spirituality; personality differences, communication styles, money and finances.” says Sarah Gershman, a Jewish educator at the Leo & Anna Smilow Center for Jewish Living and Learning at the Washington DCJCC. “We are finding that couples are searching for ways to emotionally and spiritually prepare for marriage – and in a context where they can meet other couples well.” The groups will run in the fall of 2009 and winter 2010
