On Thursday, March 24th, Phoenix will participate in Twestival with 200+ cities around the world in a global tweetup for charity.
Since 2009 over 200 international cities have participated by hosting offline events raising $1.2 million for 137 causes; most notably education and clean water.
Twestival uses social media for social good by connecting communities offline on a single day to highlight a great cause and have a fun event. Twestival is the largest global grassroots social media fundraising initiative to date.
Twestival Phoenix's 2011 goal is to help the Child Crisis Center (@childcrisis). Child Crisis Center works to prevent child abuse and neglect by supporting and strengthening families through education and intervention, by providing a safe environment for children to heal, and by recruiting, training and supporting foster and adoptive families.
Our aim is to bring all the various groups of #phx tweeps together in concert with this global tweetup to raise money for a good cause and to build community.
Admission includes 1 drink ticket and appetizers. Additional drinks will be available for purchase.
At Twestival Phoenix, we will have a silent auction and a raffle to help raise money for Child Crisis Center.
