The topic of turning wastewater into energy will be the topic of discussion at the next Nano Bio Clean Tech Forum on Tuesday, August 19. The NBCT Forum, sponsored by the Clean Tech Institute and the International Association of Nanotechnology, will take place from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., at the organizations’ headquarters, 1290 Parkmoor Ave., San Jose.
Guest speaker Dr. Charles Zhou, co-founder of Quantum Intelligence and Cascade Clean Energy, will outline a new method used to recover energy from wastewater using Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) technology. CASCADE stands for Computer-Assisted Strain Construction and Development Engineering. It chooses smart, metabolic-efficient microorganisms, such as, electrogenic bacteria that converts organic matter in wastewater to electricity and clean water in terms of reducing biochemical oxygen demand.
Dr. Charles Zhou has published more than 30 papers in science and technology. He led a team of talented engineers at Intel in 1995 and dramatically improved the Pentium yield rate for the chip company. Before founding Quantum Intelligence, Dr. Zhou successfully managed more than 30 IBM business partners across industries at IBM data management marketing organization. He co-founded Quantum Intelligence, Inc. which offers business solutions for the Department of Defense. CASCADE Clean Energy is a spin off from a former Bio-defense program granted to Quantum Intelligence.
An overview of clean tech and nanotech training programs offered by the California Institute of Nanotechnology will also be presented, as well as financing options. Networking opportunities will take place before and after the presentation.
Cost is $20/members; $30 non-members. A light dinner will be served. To register online now, go to http://www.ianano.org/registration-NBC.htm. For more information, call (408) 280-6222.
