Turbine draws on the many influences that have made them who they are today. As each generation passes, artists distill their influences to create new directions. It is this concept that drives Turbine, with one foot in the past and one in the future. You can hear the folk sides of Bob Dylan and Neil Young melding with the groove based approaches of James Brown and Fela Kuti, the bluegrass traditions of Bill Monroe and Tony Rice mixing with the electric blues of Junior Wells and Buddy Guy, and their love of jazz greats Lee Morgan and Grant Green converging with the psychedelia of Radiohead and the Grateful Dead.

Turbine has been building a following over the past few years around their dynamic live shows as well as their debut album Don't Mind If I Should. Relix Magazine, in their April/May 2005 issue, featured them as “On The Verge” artists. Based out of New York City, they have appeared in such renowned venues as the B.B. King Blues Club, State Theatre in VA, the Knitting Factory, Tribeca Rock Club, Lion’s Den, Paradise Rock Club (MA), The Funk Box (MD), North Star Bar (PA), Mexicali Blues, the Haunt, Castaways (Ithaca), Cary Street Café (VA), as well as the 10,000 Lakes Music Festival, Strange Creek Campout, The Gathering, The Sunshine Daydream Festival, and the Bele Chere Festival. They have shared the stage with countless talented bands including Col. Bruce Hampton, The Benevento/Russo Duo, The Del McCoury Band, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, The Breakfast, Brothers Past, Max Creek, U Melt, and The Gordon Stone Band.
