Join us for a day of African music and dance in remembrance and celebration of the late Alhaji Abubakari Lunna, for many years artist-in-residence at Tufts. African performance ensembles from Tufts and the Berklee College of Music will be joined by many of Alhaji’s former students from across North America, as well as the fusion bands Imaginary Homeland and Natraj, to offer participatory workshops (free) and an evening performance (ticketed) in his honor. The day will also feature an African bazaar and information tables about opportunities for community service in Africa. The fest is being held in conjunction with the Tufts Emerging Black Leaders Symposium, taking place in the Granoff Music Center the same day.
The festival is also being supported and organized by the Tufts African Students Organization, the Tufts Dance Program, the Tufts Pan-African Alliance, and the Tufts Dean of Arts and Sciences Diversity Fund.
