Tsunamis are a fairly common occurrence on the geologic time scale. The large 2004 tsunami that devastated Indonesia awoke the world to the possible catastrophe that can result from large undersea earthquakes. Museum geologist Dr. Andrew Kozlowski will review the mechanism of tsunami formation, associated hazards, early warning detection and likely locations for mega-tsunamis.
