The first play of the new Lemon Bay Playhouse season , Trying, written by Joanna McClelland Glass and directed by Richard Blanchard, runs from September 1 through 19. This touching character study is based on the true story of Joanna’s experiences from 1967 to 1968 as the secretary of Judge Francis Biddle, who had been Attorney General under Franklin Roosevelt and the Chief American Judge of the International Military Tribunal at the Nuremberg Trials.
Richard Blanchard has chosen two veteran actors for his cast. Ron Bupp, a favorite of LBP audiences, plays the challenging role of Judge Biddle, who functions “somewhere between lucidity and senility” and refuses to give in to ailments that affect his aging body. Kim Fisackerly plays Sarah Shore, an energetic, determined young woman, eager to tackle a new job. We welcome Kim, an experienced community theater performer, to her first appearance at LBP.
