Trust in government is at historic lows and we tend to blame government itself for this crisis. But what if rebuilding trust is actually our problem. Mr. Bresette will speak to the nature of civic trust, to the damaging consequences of our cynical political culture and the responsibility we all share to restore government to its proper and appreciated role.
Mr. Bresette believes that there are hopeful signs that rebuilding trust in government is not as quixotic as it might sound. Negative views of government are dominant, but these views are not as entrenched as many believe, and there are concrete ways to engage the public in more pragmatic, civic-minded considerations of the public sector and its role.
