This Friday at Issue Project Room, Tristan Perich's Between the Silences (for nine strings and nine-channel 1-bit electronics) will be performed alongside a set by vocalist Lesley Flanigan with computer musician Luke DuBois.
Part of Issue Project Room's month-long "Floating Points" festival (curated by Stephan Moore and Suzanne Fiol), Between the Silences layers slowly-drifting polyrhythmic sheets of tonality, juxtaposing delicate strings against the space's unique hanging speaker array. Flanigan's work, 1 Voice for 15 Speakers, are "choral arrangements made from one voice, that resonate the room in wave-like space as the speakers become a choir of multiple voices hanging above..."
Performed by Erik Carlson, Greg Chudzik, Kiku Enomoto, Andi Hemmenway, Jessie Marino, Beth Meyers, Eleonore Oppenheim and David Tam
