Scandinavia (and Sweden in particular) has become one of the world's most vibrant centers for choral music. On Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 7:30 PM, The Trinity Choir brings some of the most exciting new Scandinavian music to New York, along with Mass for Double Choir, one of the masterpieces for unaccompanied choir from the early 20th century by Swiss composer Frank Martin,
Special guest conductor, Stefan Parkman, one of Sweden’s finest choral conductors and a former conductor of the renowned Swedish Radio Choir, will lead the choir through this performance.
As part of their 2008-2009 concert season, the Trinity Choir will once again be joined by the internationally celebrated REBEL Baroque Orchestra as they perform glorious masterpieces by Bach and Handel, dramatic works by Scarlatti, Buxtehude, and Martin, passionate rhythms of Latin American Baroque, and beautiful, new a cappella music from Scandinavia. Each concert, intimately presented in the Gothic magnificence of Trinity Church, will be conducted by special guest conductors from around the world and will feature the purest of voices in changing arrangements from full choir to small ensembles and solo performances.
