Join actor Matthew Modine, Philadelphia screenwriter Ron Nyswaner, How to Survive a Plague filmmaker David France and others for a discussion exploring the evolution of how the AIDS epidemic has been addressed in film from the 1980’s to the present following a screening of And the Band Played On as part of the Tribeca Film Festival’s Tribeca Talks: After the Movie panel series, sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, on Saturday, April 27 at 3:30 PM at SVA Theater 1, located at 333 West 23rd Street (between 8th and 9th Avenue), Manhattan.
Directed by Roger Spottiswoode and celebrating its twentieth anniversary, the Emmy Award-winning And the Band Played On aired at the height of the AIDS epidemic in the early 90’s, investigating its facts surrounding the disease and discrediting many of its myths.
The Tribeca Talks panel series brings film enthusiasts together with some of the biggest name directors, actors and industry leaders to explore a wide array of topics and spark a richer dialogue about film.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.tribecafilm.com/festival/tickets starting April 15.
