Discover this new way to move your belly, body, and spirit with Tribal Style Bellydance!
"Tribal Style Bellydance is both a celebration of the female spirit and a physical display of the strength and beauty of women. It's roots can be traced back to the rituals of past matriarchal cultures and to the secular entertainments evolved as the gypsies traveled through India, Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Spain."
What distinguishes ATS (American Tribal Style) from other styles of bellydance is the way in which steps, movements, gestures, even costumes, are redesigned to suit the common denominator of a group dancing together. The dance is performed improvisationally and is built on a vocabulary of cues and transitions. In this class, we will be drilling the basics, cues and transitions, and learning how to use these in group formations. The classes will run on a 12 week repeating cycle, breaking down a few different movements each week. However dropping in at any point in the cycle is fine! Bring your finger cymbals if you have them!
