(Greensboro, NC – March 26, 2013) - Hip hop’s newest sensation Kendrick Lamar is headed to Greensboro on April 30. Sponsored by UNCG and Guilford College, Lamar will headline the 2013 Triad College Music Festival at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex’s Special Events Center.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 29 at 11 a.m. at www.ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster outlets, charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000 or at the Greensboro Coliseum box office.
Kendrick Lamar’s major label debut studio album good kid, m.A.A.d city was released in October, 2012 to universal acclaim. The album spawned the Top 40 hits "Swimming Pools" and "Poetic Justice". The album was later certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In early 2013, MTV crowned Lamar the No. 1 Hottest MC in the Game, on their well-known annual list.
Lamar first gained major attention after the release of his fourth mixtape, Overly Dedicated, in 2010. Early in his career, before releasing his major label debut, Lamar amassed a large internet following, and had already worked with Dr. Dre, Game, Drake, Young Jeezy, Talib Kweli, Busta Rhymes, E-40, Warren G and Lil Wayne among other popular artists.
Grammy winner Bridget Kelly delivers honest, heartfelt lyrics over powerful vocals. She won her first songwriter Grammy in 2013, having penned the song “Einstein” from Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger album. Bridget honed her performance skills early in her career, having toured with JAY Z (Blueprint 3 Tour), Estelle (BET Music Matters Tour), and the Essence Music Festival. She has been featured in top publications such as VIBE, Entertainment Weekly, The Source, and the covers of Honey and EDGE magazines.
