“All Singing! All Dancing! All Flesh Eating!"
The Next Pony and Planet X Productions present
Trey Parker’s Cannibal! The Musical live on stage at The Bug Theatre November 11-26.
Cannibal! The Musical is based on the true story of Alferd Packer, who was convicted of cannibalism in Lake City, Colorado in 1883.
The sole survivor of an ill-fated trip from Utah to Colorado, he tells his side of the harrowing tale to news reporter Polly Pry as he awaits his execution. While searching for gold and love in Colorado Territory, he and his companions get lost in the Rocky Mountains and resort to unthinkable horrors, including toe-tapping songs!
A Colorado cult favorite released in 1993, Alfred Packer: The Musical, was written, directed, produced and starred in by future South Park co-creator Trey Parker as a film student at University of Colorado. The film was re-released by Troma Entertainment in 1996 under the name Cannibal! The Musical. 1998 saw Cannibal’s first adaptation to the stage, and since then the show has become a phenomenon akin to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, with live theatrical and “shadow cast” productions presented to wide acclaim in America and abroad.
Featuring hilarious songs, gruesome gore, unusual Indians and an unprecedented number of dancing animals, this show is must-see for fans of the outrageous style of humor that made Trey and his colleagues famous.
