Tremolux was founded when Jon Spiegel, Brian Wilke, and John Abbey found themselves booked together to play some background blues music at a corporate event. Spiegel and Wilke began to trade slide guitar licks in Piedmont, Delta Blues, and Gospel stylings, and with the backing of Abbey's relentlessly solid bass work they quickly attracted a large, disruptive crowd of fans. Wilke, an esteemed Nashville session player who has worked with Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan and been well-know in Chicago for many years as a musical polymath, playing on many recording sessions and working with groups like The Hoyle Brothers, Motion To Fix, and Tributosaurus. Jon Spiegel is a veteran of the Chicago scene whose plaing credits include The Otters, Brother Brother, Blue Man Group, Michael McDermott, and Freakwater. He and John Abbey both worked with Janet Bean of Freakwater on her solo project, and John's other credits incude touring work with John Cale and Hubert Sumlin. The Tremolux rhythm section is completed by Dan Leali on Drums and Vijay Tellis-Nayak on keyboards. The band's sound is rich mixture of slide instumental jams and vocals, traditional and original, with an irreristable deep groove.
