Set in a future drastically altered by global climate change, TREEFALL is the story of three teenagers who have been surviving in the Pacific Northwest, trying to keep their make-shift family unit together. The arrival of a stranger with a secret unhinges the life they knew, and the vestiges of civil behavior crumble. The play re-examines how our culture sees and instills gender, identity, and family…even in a future world where these strictures have eroded.
“Intriguing new spins on the futuristic-thriller genre…funny…startling resolution. Visceral wonderment…sprawling set lighting, and costumes compellingly support the play's electrifying ambiance. – BACKSTAGE Critics’ Pick
“Achingly true, without a hint of morbidity, and even glimpses of humor, under John Perin Flynn’s studied direction. – LA Weekly GO!
“It’s not unlike the kind of new play that used to emerge in the early years of London’s Royal Court Theatre — grimy, primal, heady, despondent yet inexplicably giddy-making for the sheer truth of the ache in its heart. John Flynn’s staging elicits gentle, truthful performances from his wonderful ensemble…meticulously designed – Steven Leigh Morris (Edior at Large - LA Weekly)
“Visually and emotionally gripping. Finely tuned performances and a spectacularly detailed scenic design.” – Los Angeles Times
“Rogue Machine is always pushing the envelope, exciting audiences, and should be hitting on national prominence any minute now.” - EyeSpyLA
