Communicative Health Care Associates presents a workshop entitled, “Treating the Cognitive Effects of Chemotherapy” on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at their Waltham office (977 Main Street, Waltham, MA 02451).

This lecture will provide information on cognitive effects of chemotherapy related to decreased memory, attention, problem solving, organization, word finding, etc. Assessment and functional treatment of cognitive changes related to chemotherapy will be discussed.
Participating clinicians (Speech Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists) and other interested parties will be able to:

* Understand the basis of cognition, cancer and chemotherapy.

* Learn more about the effects of chemotherapy on the cognitive status of patients both during and after receiving chemotherapy.

* Have information about best assessments and therapeutic interventions for people with cognitive communication deficits related to chemotherapy ("chemo brain").

This program is offered for 0.2 CEUs (Intermediate level: Professional area) through ASHA Continuing Education.
