“Travels to the Edge” TV Personality and Photographer Art Wolfe to Showcase His Most Iconic Images at The G2 Gallery with All Proceeds to Benefit the Natural Resources Defense Council June 26, 2010

Internationally acclaimed photographer Art Wolfe comes to The G2 Gallery for the Grand Opening of a solo exhibition of his work on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 6:30 p.m.
A fine art photographer with a life long passion for the wild, Art’s photography melds stunning aesthetic and technical prowess with the urgency of conservation-oriented activist work. His exhibition at The G2 Gallery is in support of Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), a non-profit environmental advocacy group rallying support for one of the country’s most ecologically complex eco-systems in the wake of the Gulf oil spill crisis. This component of his work as a conservation-minded photographer is especially important to him, because, as Art states, “the people of the world need to know what they have to lose… this is an opportunity to contribute to building awareness of the wild world to help create a consensus for preservation.”
Known for mastering a wide breadth of photographic genres, Art Wolfe will focus primarily on the brilliant kineticism of his series Rhythms from the Wild, capturing nature in motion. A selection of limited edition prints will also be available, as well as a room devoted to the photographic journeys documented in the popular PBS television series Art Wolfe’s Travels to the Edge. Art Wolfe will be on view Tuesday, June 22–August 1, 2010.

About Art Wolfe
Over the course of his 30-year career, internationally acclaimed photographer Art Wolfe has worked on every continent and in hundreds of locations. Art maintains that he does not have a particular area of interest in terms of his subject-matter, and indeed he has set himself apart as a master of landscape, wildlife, and ethnographic genres with images whose only common motifs are a technical prowess and a “focus…on what’s beautiful on the Earth.” It is within that purview that Art’s photography hopes to win support for today’s urgent conservation issues. In 1999, Art was named one of the University of Washington’s list of 100 “most famous, fascinating, and influential” alumni for a host of accomplishments that to date include over 60 monographs, multiple awards for photo and conservation work, and 3 photo-documentary based television programs, including the PBS series Art Wolfe’s Travels to the Edge. Art remains a native resident of Seattle where he maintains his gallery, stock agency, production company, and digital photography school.
