This course covers the numerous challenges faced by airports and airlines in the first 12 hours following a major passenger aircraft accident, and equips participants with strategies and materials to plan and coordinate an effective response to assist the relatives and friends of accident victims.

NTSB Transportation Disaster Assistance staff will lead the course and assist participants with planning issues unique to their airport. With an emphasis on Q&A, participants will have ample opportunities to interact with staff.

Upon completion of this course the participant will be able to:

* Provide for relatives’ and friends’ full range of needs in an emotionally charged environment
* Avoid mistakes by reviewing lessons learned from previous accidents
* Employ forms and checklists provided to ensure that all major aspects of an Airport Friends and Relatives Assistance Plan are completed in order of priority
* Explain the NTSB and FBI roles during an aircraft accident
* Extend in-house training to staff through the use of course materials
