Translating Slavery, Translating Freedom November 28, 2012

Christi Merrill, co-director of the UM LSA Translation Theme Semester, will moderate a panel discussion featuring Françoise Massardier-Kenney, co-author of Translating Slavery and professor of French at Kent State University; Martha S. Jones, associate professor of history and co-director of the Michigan Law Program in Race, Law & History; and Jean M. Hébrard, visiting professor and co-director of the program Law, Slavery and Freedom at UM. The panelists will cover issues related to translation in the contexts of slavery and emancipation.
