Art-At-Lunch Lecture (FREE)
Topic: Transduction: China with Robert Roesch
Location: The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts
Date: 2/18/09
Time: Noon-1:00pm
Description: In 2008, the Government of China commissioned PAFA’s own Sculpture Department Chair, Robert Roesch, to produce an outdoor sculpture to be installed as a permanent feature in Hangzhou’s West Lake area in China, as well as exhibited in the 2008 International Invitational Sculpture Exhibition. The sculpture, Roesch says, “ will have four modules. Each of the four parts represents a phase in the earth’s cycle…The sculpture is a self contained universe, powered by renewable energy from the sun.” Join us for this enlightening talk about sculpture, China, and the creation of public art.
The Art-at-Lunch series of talks on American art and culture take place every Wednesday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Bring your lunch or purchase it in the Academy Café and enjoy discussions and lectures with scholars and artists covering a variety of topics related to the PAFA’s exhibitions, collections, and areas of interest.
Art-at-Lunch is free to the public. For more information, contact PAFA at 215-972-2069 or visit our website: www.pafa.org/418.
