Tracks and Scat February 20, 2011

Rain or sunshine, this hike with docents Paul Vadopalas and Jim Rea will encompass 3 miles along the Alder Spring and Ancient Oaks Trails. You'll proceed down a fire road looking for tracks and scat, and determine which mammals live and visit this area. Scat will be examined to determine who was the prey. Your lunch stop will be near a gnarled old tree trunk among beautiful mature trees. Meet at the Caltrans vista point opposite Russian Ridge Preserve gate RR-01. The parking area is located on Skyline Boulevard, 1.2 miles north of Page Mill Road and 6 miles south of Highway 84. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd. should allow approximately 35 minutes travel time.
