Before the domestication of animals, people had to hunt wild animals for food and fur. The skill of tracking animals effectively once ensured our survival, but now it is a lost art. Today, all of the items we need to survive are only a few miles away. Join Sanctuary Naturalist Scott Santino, a tracking enthusiast, to learn the basics of tracking our local mammals. We'll talk about the life histories of mammals native to Massachusetts including rodents, carnivores, hoofed animals, and lagomorphs. Following the indoor introduction, we'll hike the sanctuary to search for tracks, chews, and scat. Tracking is a fun and exciting skill that will make your winter walks more enjoyable. Registration is required. Call 978-887-9264 for details. See http://www.massaudubon.org/catalog/listing.php?program_code=616-IP10FA1 for more information.
