A baby orangutan cries out as his mother is murdered. She is killed so he could be snagged, because she would strongly fight for her baby. He’ll fetch $45,000 on the black market. The illegal wildlife trade victimizes countless animals. Join us for a discussion about how the Zoo and other conservation organizations are fighting the problem of illegal wildlife trafficking. World-renowned conservationist Nick Marx will discuss his efforts in Southeast Asia at Cambodia’s Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center. National Zoo scientist Jennifer Sevin will be moderating. The lecture will last until 8 p.m. From 8-9 p.m. drinks will be sold at the cash bar, and there will be a chance to mix and mingle with the speakers. Parking is free, but we encourage you to take public transportation to the Zoo.
