Founded in 2007 by classical composer Harlan Glotzer, the Toy-Box Trio plays new classical music with carnival flair. Its combination of concertina, toy piano, and double bass is reminiscent of the classical piano trio, but modern enough to create a sonic landscape evocative of dusty old music boxes and haunted carnivals. Called “charmingly quirky” by jew-ish.com, the trio—Glotzer, English concertina; Dana Wen, toy piano; and Shaunessey Fischer Scott, double bass— fills the space between carnivals, circuses, and classical chamber ensembles with light and fanciful music.
