VII Infopoverty World Conference

“Towards a social use of the ICTs at the service of the Millennium Development Goals” will be held on April 19 and 20 2007 at the UN Headquarters in New York, at the Politecnico and the Università Cattolica in Milan, at the ITU in Geneva, at UNESCO in Paris and in other seats connected by videoconference.

The Conference shares with the United Nations the goal of achieving the Millennium Development Goals and in particular supports 2 programs aimed at fighting poverty through the Information and Communication Technologies:

• The Infopoverty Programme, in close partnership with the UN Public Private Alliance for Rural Development for the realisation of ICT villages on the base of the model approved in the recent World Summit on the Information Society in Madagascar, the Dominican Republic, Cameroon and in the near future in Angola.

•The launch of Infopoverty Community of Expertise “Platform of e-services for development” OCCAM has been given mandate to coordinate by the UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development.
