Truly a bier garden like no other, Sommerfest offers you the chance to hike on in, sip some cold German beer and consume some authentic bratwursts on the patio. As for making your way back out on the trail—how do you say "good luck" in German?

Wanna spend a day outdoors without having to dodge overzealous camera-wielders? Get trapped at the Tourist Club's Sommerfest fundraiser this Sunday. The Bavarian chalet - local HQ of outdoorsy org Nature Friends - is perched on Mount Tam and overlooks Muir Woods (translation: purty). We recommend hiking to the club (though you can opt to drive), then munching on bratwurst and sauerkraut (or one of the insanely huge pickles) and downing a few beers (go local with SF Brewing's Emperor Norton lager) while you take in the view on the patio. When was the last time you got sauced while dancing to a German Oom-pah band and helped support preservation projects for trails, forests, and the critters that live there? Snap that photo.
