Toronto Singles Whirlyball Evening & Dinner April 20, 2007

"Just when you think you've run out of new games to play, along comes WhirlyBall. And it's a gas! It could be the quickest 15 minutes you've ever spent...

WhirlyBall is a combination of basketball and lacrosse, on an indoor court, while driving around in a bumper car. The object is to take a whiffle ball from one end of the floor to the other and hit a 15-inch target cut out of a backboard that is suspended about 10 feet above the floor..." . Bumping the opposing team to make them drop the ball is perfectly legal but no slashing or you get assessed penalty points.

Here's some more terminology for you:

WhirlyBug: Your incredibly maneuverable, specially equipped bumper car.

The Weapon: a plastic, extremely accurate (yeah.... right.... uh huh) throwing, catching and shooting device.

Teammates: four other daring, fun-loving individuals equipped the same as yourself.

Opponents: five other individuals who supposedly think they can beat you.

Your Goal: to have more fun than you've ever had in your life!

After Whirlyball we will be going to the local Shoeless Joe's for a drink and a bite to eat and to talk about our daring exploits on the Whirlyball court.

Is this your first singles event?
We know that one of the most difficult things for many people is to walk into a place where they don't know anyone and introduce themselves to people they don't know. So.... here's our promise to you: At this event you will find hosts wearing flashing lapel pins. It will be their job to make sure that you get introduced to others so you will not have to introduce yourself. Simply walk in the door and let one of us know that this is your first event and we guarantee YOU WILL NOT BE LEFT STANDING ALONE BY YOURSELF. So if you had fears about taking the plunge and attending a singles event, come on down and we'll make sure that you get mixing and mingling with other friendly fellow Minglers and Minglets. You may not meet your soul mate at this event but you'll sure meet friendly people who may go on to become really good friends -- so what have you got to lose?
