Hip Float Performs at Tempe Fantasy of Lights Parade and APS Fiesta of Electric Light Parade!
Michael Pollack might be best known for redeveloping more than 10-million-square-feet of Valley shopping centers, but on the Valley light parade circuit Pollack’s better known as the king of drums leading his widely popular band, Pollack’s Corporate Affair through the streets of Phoenix.
And this parade season the Valley’s most recognizable real estate drummer is at it again! After a brief one year absence, Pollack’s Corporate Affair returns to the parade circuit on Saturday, December 1st at the APS Fiesta of Electric Light Parade.
A converted 1949 ford Milk Truck is used for Pollack’s Train Themed Float, which showcases three rail cars and measures 80-feet-long decorated by more than 75,000 lights. It took about a dozen people and several months to get the float ready. 30 performers are part of the production including 10-band performers, and more than 2 dozen marching toy soldiers and costumed performers.
Pollack says the middle car is reminiscent of a flat car that one might see in a train, except it’s a mobile stage about 38-feet-long where the band will play. The caboose of the train will house a new 400 amp generator.
“We’ve added new features this year that we think people will really love,” said Pollack. “We’ve added more lights to make our float one of the brightest and really help light up the parade route. We’ve also revamped the sound system for 2012. This enhanced sound is so over the top for a parade float -- it will be really special.”
Motown is the theme and as always Pollack offers surprises along the parade route. As a special treat, trumpeter Jesse McGuire formerly of Tower Power and special guest Joey Trujillo, former lead guitarist and musical director for Sister Sledge will join Pollack’s Corporate Affair as well as some popular back-up singers.
“Seeing the smiles on the faces of kids along the parade route is very exciting for everyone in the band and hearing people sing along with the classics we perform is always great,” said Pollack. “We find so many people along the way know the words of the songs because we only pick classics and when we do ‘My Girl’ by The Temptations we get so many people joining in. It just makes for a really special evening.”
