Characters from the children?s classic ?Tom Sawyer? will come to life this weekend as 68 students from Greenvale Park Elementary School share the stage with professional actors from Prairie Fire Children?s Theatre.
Performances are set for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 and 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Northfield Middle School Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and are available at the door.
Set on Halloween, Prairie Fire Children?s Theatre?s original version of ?Tom Sawyer? features the well-loved characters of Tom, Huck Finn and Becky Thatcher, plus ?The Townies,? ?The Ghouls,? ?The Bats? and ?The River Rats.? Original musical numbers include ?Who Put the Lizard in the Split Pea Soup,? ?Walkin? in the Boneyard? and ?Buried Treasure.?
The production is directed by Prairie Fire Theatre actors Kate Jenson and Kurt Anderson. It is supported in part by the Healthy Community Initiative, with funding from SAMHSA, grant no. SP12242-03.
Based in Barrett, Minn., Prairie Fire Children?s Theatre specializes in touring original adaptations of classic children?s tales and travels to about 150 communities yearly.
